What Should I Do If My Computer Freezes?


Any computer user knows how frustrating it is when a PC stops running in the middle of a complex application. The mouse is not moving and the page is not loading! Is this happening to your PC regularly? Computer freezes happen on startup usually, or the computer freezes when multi-tasking, or there is something probably wrong. WHY IS MY COMPUTER FREEZING?

a. If the Windows Registry is corrupted.
The Windows registry may be corrupted by a virus, Trojan horse or malware, or a sudden computer hangup or crashes. Once
this happens, software would send a message to the registry that became garbled and was recorded improperly. What you need to do is to clean the corrupted Windows registry by some registry cleaner software.
b. If the drivers are corrupted or outdated.
If drivers on a computer are outdated or corrupted, it could also cause computer errors, crashes or freezes. To keep your drivers updated regularly is a good habit for every computer user.
c. If the computer is infected by a virus or malware.
Every one knows how harmful a virus or malware is to a computer. To prevent your computer from freezing, do not forget to install great antivirus software and scan virus on time.
d. If the hard drive or file system errors happen.
If your hard drive becomes damaged, it also can cause computer freezes. It would let you lose all data permanently or make your software crash. Do disk check timely can avoid such problems.
e. If the computer is in a bad location.
The best place for computer should be cool and dry. Do something to keep your computer from overheating, such as make sure all the fans are open and spinning, have the dust blown out every few months, do not put the computer in direct sunlight or leave it in a hot car.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY COMPUTER FREEZES?

Once your computer freezes, do the following to restart your computer:
Step 1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del at the same time till a box popup, where you will see all the currently running programs on your computer.
Step 2. Close all the programs that are marked as “not responding” in the status column one by one by clicking “End Task”. It may also let you lose all unsaved documents.
Step 3. Finally, reboot the computer. Unluckily, all the data lost during the computer freezes is not recoverable.

Can We Use the DVD Player as a CD Player?

Step 1. Turn on the DVD player. Take out the DVD if there is one in the drive.
Step 2. Make sure the disc is in good condition, not being scratched or dirty. If there is dust or dirt, use a clean soft cloth to wipe it carefully before inserting it into the drive.
Step 3. Press “Play” button on the DVD player itself or on the remote control. It will begin to read the sic.
Step 4. Select a track by pressing the “Scene Selection” buttons. It maybe takes while for you to find all the right buttons to work the CD playing function.
Step 5. Enjoy the music from the CD. The DVD player just works as a CD player and show the tracks of CD through the TV speakers.

How to Protect and Enhance DVD Discs?


Many people will think the protection of DVD is quite common. However, we probably overlook the fact. DVD is fragile. It can be scratched, damaged and even become unreadable. Chances are that we play a brand new DVD smoothly for the first time, and the next time when we play it, it fails to work normally. How upset to find a favorite DVD fails to work! Nobody is willing to see that. Fortunately, we can avoid the frustrating situation from the very beginning. And the following are some tips on how to protect DVD that you have to pay attention to.

  • Tip 1. Handle the disc by the outer edge and center hole. Keep the disc away from dirt, fingerprint, liquid, smudges, etc. Use a clean fabric to clean it if it is dirty. Notice that wipe it in a straight line from the center to outer edge.
  • Tip 2. Store disc upright, like books on the library shelf, of course, with its original outer cases. Don’t place it horizontally for a long time.
  • Tip 3. Leave disc in its cases to avoid effects caused by environment changes. Store it in cool, dry, and dark place with temperature at 4-20℃ and humidity at 20-50%.  Don’t expose discs to sunlight or rain.
  • Tip 4. Don’t write or mark the data area where laser reads. If you want to mark a disc, use a permanent marker to mark the label side.

Protecting discs is very essential, while maximizing their value is of greater importance. So, you can make a further step to enhance them. Creating DVD backups is a good way to enhance their values.
